Semi-naked cakes are definitely on-trend for weddings. They are simple yet sophisticated with their smooth finish and clean lines. Depending on the grandness of the occasion, they can be dressed up or indeed down. So to me, they are the perfect cake for weddings and special occasions.
I made this beautiful cake for a bride & groom’s recent wedding at Hampton Court House (hchevents.com). A two-tier delicate vanilla sponge with accompanying vanilla buttercream adorned with a rustic cake topper and stunning roses by Steph from Fairynuff Flowers (fairynuff-flowers.co.uk). The gentle colour palette of creams, peaches and pinks suited the bright and airy venue perfectly.

Kirsty, the bride, had chosen White O’Hara, Sweet Avalanche, Vuvuzela and David Austin roses for the bouquets, table centre pieces and for the cake. The creamy White O’Hara roses were my favourite with their pretty centres and breathtaking fragrance! I do love a rose!
I wasn’t expecting a message so soon after the wedding, but the following day, Kirsty sent a lovely note with this glowing testimonial:
“Thank you so so much for the gorgeous cake I absolutely loved it! It looked so gorgeous and tasted amazing!”
Well, that just made my day!
