I don’t know where to start this stunner of a wedding! I’ve been involved in many weddings at Hedsor House that have varied on scale, detail and themes but Alex and Peter’s destination wedding weekend was one that I shall always remember. Alexis and Haley, the wedding planners at Willow & Oak Events crafted the most magical wedding over 2 days, with so many considered and thoughtful little details and bringing together a stellar team to bring the magic. To be a part of that team was a real honour as the craftmanship was next level! To give you an idea of the amount of thought and attention to detail that these wedding planners put into their weddings, you can take a look at Alex and Peter’s design story.
Peter, the groom had grown up in the UK and met Alex, the bride, in the United States. They had chosen to celebrate their union here in England and wanted to treat their guests to a quintessential English experience – their wedding spanned the weekend and started with a welcome dinner at The Old Sessions House in the city and then their wedding itself took place at Hedsor House. The floral team at Aesme Studio truly brought the British countryside to the venue, both indoors and outdoors, they filled spaces with floral heavy designs that felt so organic, as if they had always been there. The outdoor ceremony arrangement was simple yet stunning.
There were many stages to their day, including the welcome drinks, the outdoor ceremony, the cocktail hour, the dinner service, and of course, the party. And every time, the planning team had ensured that each chapter and space had been thought out in detail to feel relevant and considered. Like I said, this wedding for me was on another level with how it had been crafted.
The cake cutting was a little different in itself as although the cake had been on display throughout the day, the couple stole away for a private cake cutting moment just for the two of them. You can see from the photos, that this was a super cute part of their day – time just for the two of them to be together and eat cake! In keeping with this British Summer countryside vibe, the cake was made up of luscious lemon cake, filled with fresh lemon curd and zingy lemon buttercream. And the exterior was decorated with pressed seasonal edible flowers. I loved making this cake, as always for me, understated and simple cake designs win the day.
I felt over the moon when I heard that Alex and Peter’s wedding and love story was going to be featured on The Lane – a wedding blog that I had been aspiring to have work featured on for a very long time!
