I’m so excited to share this stunning wedding with you. When Claire first got in touch with me, her description of what she envisaged for her wedding day just completely lit me up. From the classic venue with its textured, crumbling walls to the big bold florals, gorgeous styling and visions of a delicious buttercream cake! Claire was a dream to work with as she knew exactly the kind of vibe she wanted for her day – a laidback Aussie-style all about understated luxury with lots and lots of details.
She chose a bridal gown from Made With Love boutique, a designer known for their daring dresses with statement low backs or plunging v-necks. Claire is definitely a modern bride and she looked incredible in the Archie dress that she chose with its signature cowl back.
On the day, every corner of the venue was thoughtfully decorated and Lucie filled the house with beautiful floral installations. The table was adorned with bud vases, nude coloured napkins, hand calligraphed stationery and disco balls.
They really wanted a showstopper of a cake and Claire wanted a cake that was inspired by the building. So I created a 3 tier cake with tall tiers and a textured, marble effect buttercream. The edges were imperfect and almost crumbling, just like the walls themselves. And the buttercream colours reflected the distressed walls as well as the delicate colour palette of ivory, cream, blush, nude, taupe, toffee and lilac. I finished the cake with a striking floral arrangement with roses, sweetness and orchids. And to complete the look, the cake sat against a collection of arches atop a custom made plinth. The cake was made up of tiers of moist vanilla and raspberry sponge cake filled with creamy white chocolate ganache. They served their cake for pudding along with fresh berries.
I’m truly grateful that Claire and Jamie chose me to make your cake and to be a part of their special day. They shared the most amazing review too: “Vaani is more than an exquisite cake baker and visionary; planning a wedding though a pandemic she also became a voice of calm and wisdom amongst the chaos. We paid her to make a cake for our wedding, but she delivered SO much more and went above and beyond… Wedding planning doesn’t always go to plan and our florist cancelled on us, I reached out to Vaani who kindly suggested an amazing florist! She also proposed I speak to our props company about making a bespoke stand, to save us making it! The cake itself was amazing, we loved it’s unique design, she really listened and understood the vibe of our wedding and took inspiration from the venue itself to create something we truly loved. Lastly, the taste, well, we didn’t want the cake to go to waste so we served our cake as dessert and many said the dessert was their favourite course and that is saying something!!!!”
I know they thought about every little detail, so to have my cake be an important part of their celebration is what fuels me. The meaning behind my work is what makes me thankful for having my business. I will never have the words for the gratitude I feel for every couple that commissions me.
Honestly, Claire and Jamie really know how to have fun and they love to party. Their wedding day really was an amazing celebration and the photos really tell the story. I’ve shared more over on this Pinterest board – so pin away onto your wedding mood boards! And feel inspired!
