I have been so lucky this year to be involved in many beautiful editorial shoots. This lovely one took place at Wotton House – a stunning country estate hotel nestled in the heart of the Surrey Hills. The shoot centred around the Italian gardens as well as the impressive pillared library – an amazing space to have your couple portraits.

The very talented Johanna Pedrick, created an amazing floral installation, an asymmetrical floral arch which perfectly framed the 17th century Roman temple. What a beautiful spot to hold an outdoor wedding ceremony, don’t you think? During the shoot, I learned that the Italian gardens were the first to be completed in England as long ago as 1652. Elements in the garden are so historic and unique that they’ve been given Grade II listings.

I came up with a cake design to complement this pastel colour palette as well as the classical architecture of Wotton House. Inspired by delicate petal ruffles, I added texture and detail, all made from buttercream. A touch of gold on the edges for an elegant and luxurious look as well as a dusting of blush pink to tie in with those gorgeous roses. This is probably one of my favourite cake designs to date!

I love the photo of the cake from this angle, as it really shows off those buttercream textural details.

It was such a great team to work with and we were beyond thrilled when B.Loved blog published the feature. There was altogether so much loveliness, a beautiful dress provided by Luella’s Bridal, heavenly flowers from Johanna and all in a stunning setting. The pastel colour palette with blush, pale pink and pale peach suited the elegant and modern styling. And I’m in love with the stationery by Lynda.
