On the first day of June this year, it was the most beautiful day! I arrived at The Belvedere Suite in Pembroke Lodge to glorious sunshine and stunning views over Richmond Park and the surrounding towns of Kingston, Richmond, Twickenham and beyond.
The theme for this wedding was all about the English garden and the amazing flowers of Spring. The florals for the wedding were a combined effort. The bouquet and the pedestal flowers were provided by Rhubarb & Bramley. There was a long wall of foliage and greenery created by family and friends with some of the flowers coming from the bride’s parents’ garden as well. All in all, it was beautiful!
The cake was made up of 4 tiers of lemon cake: very lemon-y sponge cake filled with zingy lemon curd and delicious lemon buttercream. The cake was decorated from top to bottom in beautiful Spring blooms including a mixture of roses in pastel colours and sweet peonies. My favourites were the most heavenly scented hot pink roses from the bride’s parents’ garden.
In contrast to when I was here last, Pembroke Lodge is now full of colour, the wisteria is all lush and green. It’s a beautiful venue to get married at any time of the year but especially wonderful in late Spring.
I wanted to finish the post with the lovely words I received from my beautiful couple the day after their wedding. Words like these are what make me so happy – to be able to create a couple’s dream cake for their wedding day is the best thing about my job!
“We wanted to write and say a huge thank you for our cake yesterday, it could not have been more beautiful and we absolutely loved it! It was exactly what I wanted but even more stunning than I ever could have expected and so delicious! We served the cake as dessert and we both had so many of our friends and family saying how delicious the cake was! The lemon was perfect for such a hot day and we couldn’t have loved the cake more!”
