I’ve been making wedding cakes for a while now and each cake is so special. As I learn more about the couple, the cake becomes part of their story – it reflects their love and their emotion. This is why I adore making wedding cakes, because it’s more than just a tower of foodstuff – it’s integral to the whole romantic tale of the couple, and cutting the cake is one of the first things the couple will do together after being united in marriage. That act itself is full of symbolism and by sharing a piece of cake with each other, they are also symbolising a promise of providing for each other.
Which of course leads me to this gorgeous couple, Jess & Josh, who were just the sweetest couple to make a cake for. Jess really wanted to keep things simple but elegant and full of romance. There were gold accents, and lots and lots of greenery and words displayed in beautiful typography all set against the stunning setting of Buxted Park Hotel. Jess looked stunning in a beautiful gown from Grace Loves Lace.
For this lovely couple, there was all the expected excitement in the lead up to the wedding. But Josh, who is a member of Goodboys, landed their first number one hit on the UK Official Chart with ‘Piece of Your Heart’! Judging by the popularity of the song, I think this couple have some crazy and exciting times ahead! They both seem so grounded and so in love that they can handle anything and will be riding that wave of success!
So I need to tell you about the mouthwatering flavours inside that cake! Josh loves salted caramel, which featured in two of the cake tiers. First with a rich chocolate cake and creamy chocolate ganache, and then again with a buttery caramel cake. The third tier was a moist vanilla and raspberry cake with melt-in-the-mouth white chocolate ganache. All rather deliciously indulgent flavours to delight the wedding guests.
I just love the vibe and the feel from this wedding, so laidback and relaxed. I just have to share a few more images with you. Xx
Oh and the fabulous Rock My Wedding have featured this wedding too!
