This luscious autumnal wedding was all about embracing the seasons at the historic Loseley Park. As the guests arrived at the barn for the wedding reception, they found it filled with candles, twinkly lights and seasonal flowers. Kate, the talented florist at The Gorgeous Flower Company combined heavenly flowers for the bouquet and the floral decorations. I love decorating cakes with fresh flowers and she gave me the most beautiful of flowers to play with: gorgeous navy-centred white anemones, pretty dusky pink roses, stunning Minerva carnations, delicate scabiosa, rosehips, eucalyptus, fern fronds and bracken tendrils. Oh and this amazing burgundy, velvety kangaroo paw!
The cake itself was made of four tiers of Victoria sponge. Each tier had a different flavoured jam filling including blackberry, strawberry and raspberry. As well as the fresh flowers, the cake was decorated with dark purple berries a-plenty and sweet, juicy figs.
I love this photo of the newly wedded couple taken by Christopher Horwood. I’ll never tire of seeing the bride and groom’s joy-filled faces during the cake cutting moment. And what kind words they shared with me after their wedding too:
“Thank you so much for our beautiful and delicious cakes that you us!! Everyone was completely blown away by them. The wedding cake was absolutely perfect with the style of the barn and the flowers”.
I hear that 2019 wedding trends are suggesting that naked cakes are falling out of favour, but I still think that they are a beautiful match for a romantic barn wedding.
