I’ve been thinking about this second lockdown that’s just commenced and am feeling sad for couples who had hoped to get wed in November 2020. To lift the spirits, I wanted to share a story of a gorgeous wedding that I was a part of in late September. Nina & Thari, the bride and groom, are a lovely, lovely couple and I’d got to meet them earlier this year. They’d had plans for a summer wedding which due to the first lockdown couldn’t go ahead – they moved their dates around in the hope that they could get married. They compromised on the vision for their wedding to get wed in 2020 and decided to celebrate with only 30 guests, this being in line with the government’s restrictions that had been put in place since August. But then another announcement came that from September 28th, guest numbers would be limited to 15. This was a step too far for Nina & Thari, so – they quickly contacted all of their suppliers to see if they could move their wedding forward by one week to fit it in before the rules changed. They were in luck! Everyone was available. After being on this journey of ups and downs , I couldn’t have been more pleased to be free to make their wedding cake for them on their new date.
Getting married was just too important for them to wait any longer. It felt like serendipity because it all worked out for them. They were still able to have their wedding at the venue of their choice: the beautiful Hampton Court House and were surrounded by their loved ones. From the smiles on everyone’s faces, you can see what this day meant for them all.
I know for some couples, they have a vision of what their day will be and they want to wait till they can have it just so. I salute you, because it’s really tough to keep having to postpone every time and know that your dream wedding keeps getting pushed back. My heart really goes out to you.
I feel for all of you. What a decision to make but what ever you choose to do, as long as it feels right – that is always going to be the right decision for you. All I know is that all the little stories I’ve heard this year have been moving and heart-stirring. Whatever Covid throws at us, it’s clear that love prevails! Love will always win the day!
So anyway, I’m going to share some beautiful images taken by the amazing Ed Pereira. It’s been a while since I got to do a wedding at Hampton Court House – I am so lucky to have this incredible venue on my doorstep. It is my closest wedding venue and I adore returning here time and time again. I’m in love with Ed’s photos – I really hope you enjoy viewing this gorgeous couple’s intimate wedding. You can feel the love and the joy and it brings a smile to my face every time I look through them. And if you want to read more about Nina & Thari’s story, their wedding got featured on Love My Dress
