I’ve been in the wedding industry a while now, and I have a list of wedding venues that I would absolutely love to work at. Chiswick House was on that list, so I was delighted when Fiona & Matt commissioned me to make their beautiful wedding cake for a summer wedding there. I knew it would all look amazing when I found out that Mary Jane Vaughan would be doing the flowers. It’s always exciting and inspiring to work with talented florists.

The more time I spend making wedding cakes, the more passionately I feel about about using British-grown flowers where possible and minimising the impact my business has on the environment. I endeavour to minimise food waste and packaging. I also source organic, ethical and local ingredients and that includes flowers too. So yes, whenever I get to work with a florist who thinks about sustainability, it always makes the work more rewarding and fulfilling.

Anyway, back to this beautiful wedding. It’a always so lovely to be able to show you photos from the wedding, so I’m always grateful to the couple and the photographer for sharing their beautiful images. Fiona and Matt wished to have a beautiful buttercream cake decorated with fresh flowers that were the same as those being used in arrangements and the bouquets. For a modern touch, they also wanted some extra details including macaron, metallic chocolate truffles, meringue kisses and little drips – much like the trendy drip cakes. All the colours were kept to pastel hues with blush, peaches, creams, lilac and pale pinks.

The colours continued through their dessert table of cake pops, mini cup cakes and biscuits – all super pretty with delicate decorative details.

The couple had their wedding ceremony in the conservatory, which almost has the feel of an outdoor wedding. I do love glasshouses, especially ones as pretty as this!

There are so many beautiful corners for couple portraits within the gardens of Chiswick House as well. It’s a very magical place to get married with its quintessential British vibe. You’d never know the gardens and the house are all tucked away in a corner of West London. I adore these photos of Fiona and Matt looking so in love!
