Sumptuous naked wedding cake for a festive London wedding

Despite the wintry drizzle and chill in the air on this December day, there was so much warmth and love in this beautiful mid-winter wedding. The bride looked stunning and totally rocked that Old Hollywood Glamour style. Pure elegance! And those gorgeous bold blooms from Daisy Ellen captured the richness and beauty of the flowers of the season.

The wedding ceremony took place at Islington Town Hall, followed by a relaxed and cosy celebration at The Peasant in Clerkenwell. Maja Tsolo photographed the magical moments of the day in her genuine and authentic style – all of the photos in this blog post are from this talented and generous lady.

The sumptuous three tier naked wedding cake was all one flavour. One of my absolute favourite flavourways in lemon sponge cake, zingy lemon curd and lemon buttercream. The cake was decorated in rich reds and creamy whites with succulent red currants, strawberries and blueberries and beautiful seasonal flowers. I just love anemones in mid-winter – they are so beautiful and gives that extra pop in the fresh flower decorations.

I’m always grateful to my lovely couples when they get in touch after their wedding. These are the kind words of praise shared with me following their wedding day:

“The cake was so fabulous….it looked absolutely amazing and it tasted so good.  We had a lot of compliments on it!  The whole day was more than we could have hoped for!”

Seeing their joy while cutting their wedding cake together is what makes this whole cake-making journey so very special. Xx
